WASSO VEGE'S
WASSO VEGE'S reflects the philosophy of Sasaki Vege(Beji) about clothing.
Where can you find the difference between kimono and clothes?
Vege says,
"It's not a dimension of design or motif. What you expect from each of these types of clothing is definitely different. It may be said to be completely opposite. When you put on a piece of Japanese traditional clothing, the main constituent is not a person who wears it. A person is only tool for expressing clothes. The protagonist is absolutely the design and motif of the clothes, and the most important thing is the linear designs of clothes themselves.
"On the other hand, it could be said that the protagonist of western clothing is the person who wears it. The mission of western clothing, is to draw out charm of the person who puts it on.
Each design is made so it fits to your body shape and your personality, by complimenting your body lines to make them more attractive, or sometimes by concealing the body line entirely.
Dresses are made for an individual by sewing the material of dress with scissors, a needle, and thread. Materials, design, motif and line are all put into consideration for the person who wear it.
"With this being said, the person who wears Japanese traditional clothing, must adjust themselves to the line of clothing from the moment they put it on. The body of woman is tied or tightened with many kinds of bands and strings and fabrics. Sometimes you put padding between the clothing and the body as well. In other words, we sew the human body line into the kimono itself. This series of work is called "Kitsuke"
Japanese traditional clothing is an unparalleled artistic costume, cultivated through tens of thousands of years of tradition, and had continued from the prehistoric times of the Japanese people. However, there are no people who wear this traditional art form in their everyday life in Japan.
This is because in order to wear this type of clothing, you need to know how to put it on, which requires a lot of training called Kitsuke, that and you need to suffer being tied up with many kinds of strings while you wear it as well.
In this way, Western clothing and Japanese clothing have started to have counter-opposite concepts, and have been continuously improving through the tens of thousands of years of tradition.
March 2017, at VANCOUVER FASHION WEEK, WASSO VEGE'S realized encounter of the Oriental and Western ideologies in clothing culture will be presented. WASSO VEGE'S utilizes the line and motif of traditional Japanese WASO, that can be worn in the same sense as western clothes for the western woman, while providing liberation from Kitsuke, a high degree of comfort, and ease of movement for Japanese woman.
Now we are sending these clothes to the women all over the world, as a new traditional art that includes the taste of western fashion in their designs.
